Project history
The project was designed to celebrate the club's 100th anniversary and encourage children and young people to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle, which aligns with our corporate values.
To date, we have built 13 sports facilities in the colors of the Montreal Canadiens in 6 Montreal neighborhoods (Verdun, NDG, Saint-Michel, LaSalle, Montreal-North and Ahuntsic-Cartierville) and Longueuil, Laval, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières, Joliette, Val D'or, Jonquière and St-Jérôme.

Each site has a 17,000-square-foot rink, fencing, benches for players and access to the Zamboni. We installed a custom-designed refrigeration system that allows the rinks to be used all winter.

The rinks have proved so popular that the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation has decided to extend the project to the whole of Quebec over the next few years.

Challenges
  • Installation of a refrigeration system allows the rinks to be used all winter.
  • Construction of an exterior concrete slab to withstand extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Work in high-traffic areas.
  • Coordinate work with city administrations.
