Project history
QMD brought two areas of expertise to bear on this project: its knowledge of institutional projects and its experience in hotel renovation.
We were approached because of our expertise in projects in the institutional sector, and our experience in hotel renovation. The mandate involved transforming an outdated hotel in downtown Montreal into a modern student residence adapted to the specific needs of its residents.

This project is unique because of its scale: the renovation of 180 apartments on 26 floors and vast interior shared spaces.

To complete the work in time for the start of the academic year, we took up the challenge by leveraging our logistical expertise and calling on our many partners. We also strengthened our construction and supervision teams.

Challenges
  • Renovation of a 26-storey building in the heart of downtown Montreal.
  • Restoration of the building’s interior and facades.
  • Bring building up to code.
